One interesting change from my previous job to my current one is that I have a one hour round-trip commute, but since my old job was nine hours mon-thurs and my new one is eight hours mon-thurs, my schedule hasn't changed much during most of the week except for less flexibility is what time I can get in.
On fridays though, I used to work eight hours one week and get the next friday off. I don't get every other friday off at this job. So I don't get a three day weekend on the weekends I drive back to the Pittsburgh area without taking time off, and I don't get paid timeoff for the first six months. So I'm trying to plan my weekend home at the end of the month. I drive home after work which means I won't make it to the Pittsburgh area until around midnight. And I have to drive back on sunday night. So I only get one night home, which is the concert. So any other plans I make with friends or family will have to be morning/afternoon plans.
This should be better off when I get more settled in the job and even more so when I get on the job six months. My next time home after June will be for my 15th class reunion in August. Fifteen years. That's scary. The last five years alone have been scary. In the last five years I've been best man for the second time, uncle for the second and third time, been in my most serious relationship, switched jobs twice, moved away from my family and friends, driven across the country again, got my Mustang and yet my life still feels pretty much the same.
Bydaway, while I was out of work, I didn't post much on here and missed this blog's fourth anniversary.
