What a weekend. It started out with me having to go with just one contact lens because I accidentally caused an abrasion on my eye taking my new type of contact out. I got a pair of the new contacts that allow more oxygen to get through. They're also stiffer than my old contacts and in the course of trying to taking them out, I dug too deep, you could say. Then I got the NCAA Tournament preview issue of Sports Illustrated in the mail after my team was already knocked out. Then on friday is there was an announcement at my apartment building that the city was going to be doing work on the water system again and the water would likely be discolored again. And I was going to be going to work on Saturday so I had to go in without taking a shower. Thankfully there isn't many people in at work on weekends. West Virginia did beat Wake Forest to jump my standing in the office pool to a second place tie. Then, other teams lost and I went down again, but I'm still in the running for first place, especially since I'm the only one who picked Duke to win it all.
On Sunday morning, the water thing was supposed to be fixed, but since I've already been caught in the shower with discolored water once in this place, I played it safe and went into work again without showering. So I was at work, sitting at the computer, seeing clear out of only one eye, bothered by the fact I hadn't showered in two days (luckily even fewer people are at work on sundays), when the screw that holds the top of my foldable headphones together came out and went flying. So I had to hook my headphones together with a big-ass binder clip. (I later found the screw, but had no mini-screwdriver at work.) Anyway, this hasn't been my best weekend. I did get to shower though and I'm going to start the week anew. I worked the extra hours so I could earn some comptime to use later in the summer, but if I want to, I could just start next weekend mid-day Wednesday.
Saturday night, I went to Best Buy to look at digital cameras, which is going to be my tax check purchase. I know I want a camera that I can put in my pocket as opposed to needing a case for it and I want atleast 5MP but aiming at getting a 7MP. If anyone has any suggestions or recommendations about digital cameras, I would appreciate it, especially when it comes to stuff like memory sticks, batteries, etc. For example, is it better to get one that uses special rechargable batteries or "AA" batteries? Also, are there any brands that I should look closely at or should avoid?
I am going to start writing regularly here again. I have a couple ideas for stuff to add to the right column of this blog. For now, I'm just going to put a list here of the top things I can't wait for in the land of entertainment. And if you would have told me about six years ago that a new Star Wars movie was coming out this summer and it wasn't the movie I was most anticipating, I would not have believed it. But nothing I've heard about the movie at the top of my list has been bad. I love Bruce Willis back to his old badass form, Jessica Alba as a stripper, Robert Rodriguez resiging from the Directors Guild because they wouldn't allow him to give co-directing credit to Frank Miller, the black-and-white just-out-of-the-comic-book look to it, Jessia Alba in a bikini and chaps, the cool-ass website, Quentin Tarantino as a special guest director, Mickey Rourke in the type of role he does best, etc... The most negative thing I can see about it is that one of the fourteen or so "name" actors that is starring in it is Alexis Bledel and I don't really have anything against her. It's just that, the few times I've seen her in something, she shows no emotion. And maybe that will be good for this character or maybe the directors will be able to get emotion out of her. They said that they kept art from the comic book up on monitors while filming and adjusted the scene to fit the art. Add that to the cool things about this film. Oh, yeah, did I mention Jessica Alba is in it?
Okay, here's my list (in approximate order after the first two):
1. Sin City: The Movie
2. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
3. Serenity
4. Grey's Anatomy
5. Joe Perry
6. Fantastic Four
7. Bleed Like Me
I'm sure there's other things I really can't wait for but are slipping my mind. Others, like Miranda Lambert's debut album, have been on my list and have come out already.
Anyway, I still owe some stories about the visit two weeks ago and answers to the lyric quiz. It looks like I won't be going home next weekend, so maybe I should be able to get it done then, if not before.
