Jerome Bettis agreed to take a pay cut to stay with the Steelers. I love it. The team's problem with running last year was due in large part with inconsistency and injuries in the offensive line. The Steelers needed to get rid of one of their backs to make room for a potential top young back. Some people might think that Amos Zereoue should have been kept. I like him and you surely can't blame most of last year on him. He, however, has never proven himself good as a first and second down runner and he's only three years or so younger than Bettis, so it's not like they're sacrificing too much youth by choosing Bettis. Also, I'd simply like to see Bettis move up the rushing yards chart as a steelers. If he hits 1,000 yards next year, he'll be in fourth place overall.

On another note, Kordell Stewart got cut by the Bears. You know, I wish the guy all the luck. He has potential. It just got to a point in Pittsburgh that a change of scenery was the best for both him and the team. I think he could really do the best in a town that's not so football crazy. He'd be good to sign with a team where football doesn't rule the fall. Either a place with less rabid fans or a place which has other sports distractions during football season.
